Toledo, OH - University of Toledo senior offensive tackle Colin Westrich (Delphos, OH) was recently named third-team All-America by the Sporting News.
Westrich, 6-6, 300 pounds, was the top performer on a Rocket offensive line that allowed just eight sacks in 1999, was 10th in the nation in rushing yards per game (239.2) and was No. 1 in the country in yards per carry (5.35).
A three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection, Westrich started in 34 of 35 games since his sophomore year. He made second-team All-MAC as a sophomore in 1997, and first-team All-MAC in 1998 and 1999.
The Rockets were 6-5 on the season, 5-3 in the MAC West Division (tied for second place), and won their last three games of the season by a combined score of 121-48, thanks to an average of 395 yards rushing in those contests.
