Biography
Ashley Cusack is in her first year as a student manager with the Rockets after a successful career in the pool.
The Willow Spring, IL native assists the Rockets in all aspects of the program, including organizing practices and recording times. Cusack continues with Toledo after a successful career in which she lettered all four years in swimming and helped Toledo to its first MAC Championship. In last season's championship effort, Cusack was a member of the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay championship teams and took third place in the 200 backstroke. She also earned second-team All-MAC honors.
Cusack is a currently a fifth-year senior majoring in education.
Statistics and Accomplishments at UT:
2009-10: Second-team All-MAC...Part of MAC Champion 200 Medley Relay and 400 Medley Relay teams...finished third in 200 backstroke at MAC Championships, swimming a career-best 1:59.26...Had six first-place finishes during regular season...Finished top-five during the regular season a total of 16 times in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 500 free and 200 IM...Also had 11 top-five finishes in relays during the year, finishing first in five events.
2008-09: Honorable Mention Academic All-MAC... Finished in a tie for ninth place in the 100 back (56.50, second-best in UT history) at MAC Championships...Also placed 10th in the 1650 free (16:59.43) and 14th in the 500 free (4:57.23) at the MACs...Time in 1650 ranks ninth in school history, while 500 free time ranks 10th...Second place in 500 free and third in 200 free against Ball State...Second in 500 free against Bowling Green...Second in 100 back against Ohio...Had a trio of third-place finishes in 100 back...Set school long course records in 100 back (1:05.85) and 200 back (2:23.37).
2007-08: Coaches Award winner in 2008... Finished in the top 15 in three events at the Mid-American Conference Championships... Placed 13th in the 1650 freestyle (17:26.37)... Was 15th in the 100 backstroke at MACs (59.34)... Touched the wall in 4:59.94 in the 500 freestyle at MACs... Finished third in the 100 backstroke and fifth in the 200 backstroke at Ohio State... Part of the 200 medley relay that finished second (1:46.49) and the 800 freestyle relay that finished fourth (7:42.61) at Eastern Michigan... Swam the 200 freestyle in 1:56.32 and the 500 freestyle in 5:08.29 at EMU... Part of the seventh-place 400 medley relay at EMU (4:03.95)... Member of the seventh-place 400 freestyle relay squad (3:38.75) at EMU... Helped set the UT pool record in the 400 freestyle relay against Miami (3:29.32)... Is a top-10 all-time UT performer in two events -- 500 freestyle (7th) and 100 backstroke (7th).
2006-07: Helped the 800 freestyle relay team finish third and the 400 freestyle relay team finish fourth at the MAC Championships ... Swam in the 500 freestyle (5:11.65), 200 freestyle (1:56.87), 100 freestyle (55.05), 50 freestyle (25.31) and 100 backstroke (58.61).
High School: Four-year letterwinner in swimming ... Selected team’s most valuable swimmer and captain senior year ... State qualifier junior and senior seasons in 100 and 200 freestyle ... Four-time All- American.
