Brian Lutz has served in the UT Athletic Department’s compliance office since 2003 where he is responsible for managing the department’s compliance to NCAA, MAC and institutional rules and guidelines.
Lutz career began at West Virginia University as a compliance graduate assistant for two years while he completed his master’s of science degree in 2000. Upon graduation, he worked as the assistant director of compliance for three years at Kansas State University.
He joined the Rockets' staff in 2003, working first as the assistant athletic director for compliance for five years before moving to his current position as associate A.D. in 2008.
Lutz is a chairman on the UT Athletics Compliance Council. He also chaired search committees for the head football and basketball coaches in 2008. An active member of the NCAA, he was the guest presenter of the NCAA 2008 Regional Rules seminar held in Boston, MA.
A 1988 graduate of Duquesne University, Lutz earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He is a member of the NCAA Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee for Athletics and sits on the membership committee for the National Association for Athletics Compliance.
Lutz and his wife, Heather, are the parents of a son, Conor (2). The Pittsburgh, PA native enjoys fitness, reading, movies, music, and golf.
