Four Rockets earn singles victories in non-conference matchup
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team picked up its second win of the weekend with a 5-1 victory over Dayton on Saturday afternoon at Twos Athletic Club.
The Rockets (2-0) started off strong by picking up the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. Doubles duo Neha Guru and Isabella Barretto tallied a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court for their second-straight doubles victory.
Sophomore Annika Munson and junior Jone Ibanez each won their own straight-set victories at the same time to clinch the match for the Rockets. Munson earned a 6-3, 6-3 decision on the No. 5 court while Ibanez fired off a 6-3, 6-2 win on the No. 3 court.
Guru won her second-consecutive singles matchup on the No. 4 court while freshman Isabella Barretto picked up her second win on the No. 2 singles court.
Quoting Head Coach Tracy Mauntler
"It was good to take the doubles point today, but we still have a lot of improvements to make in doubles. Singles continues to be a strength for us. I was impressed by the consistency we had this weekend on the singles courts."
