Rockets remain undefeated with third-consecutive victory
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team remained undefeated in its dual season with a 7-0 victory over Duquesne at Twos Athletic Club on Sunday.
The Rockets (3-0) started off strong by earning the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. Doubles duo Neha Guru and Isabella Barretto tallied a 6-1 victory on the No. 1 court for their third-straight victory, while sophomores JJ Scholten and Annika Munson picked up a 6-1 decision on the No. 3 court.
Toledo dominated singles play, earning wins on all courts. Freshman Anastasia Akuginova tallied a straight set win on the No. 5 court, while JJ Scholten fired off a 6-2, 6-1 victory on the No. 1 court to clinch match point.
Jone Ibanez picked up her third singles win of the season with a straight set decision on the No. 3 court. Barretto closed out singles play, earning the third win of her freshman campaign with a third-set tiebreaker on the No. 2 court, 5-7, 6-3, 10-8.
