Box Score OXFORD, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team fought from behind the entire game before coming up just short in a 6-5 loss to Miami at McKie Field in Oxford, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.
The Rockets (4-9, 0-2 MAC) played from behind for most of the game.
Charlie Scholvin and
Tre Mariano cracked homers in the eighth inning and ninth innings, respectively, but Toledo's ninth-inning rally came up one run short.
Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle:
"We showed a lot of fight today. Yesterday we did nothing with the bats, and today we were better. It just wasn't enough to get a win.The pitching and defense has been fine, but it's unrealistic to ask the pitchers to only give up a run or two each game. We must get going on offense to have a chance to win games.Tomorrow is a big game in the early part of the season. We have to find a way to salvage a game tomorrow."
