Rockets to Face Purdue Fort Wayne in Midweek Matchup

Toledo to play its sixth game against the Horizon League this season

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team will begin a five-game road trip starting with Horizon League foe Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday, April 24 at Mastodon Field. The Rockets (19-21, 12-9 MAC) will look to snap a five-game losing streak as it takes the field with the Mastodons (14-25, 8-10 Horizon League) at 3:00 p.m. 
 
Toledo leads the all-time series, 12-5, including a 9-8 win in the last matchup in Fort Wayne on April 4, 2023. The Mastodons lost 2-of-3 to Youngstown State over the weekend but captured the series finale, 6-3.

LAST TIME OUT
UT was swept for the first time this season last weekend, falling to Miami by scores of 13-0, 4-3 (10 inn.), and 10-2. Junior Garret Pike hit 4-for-13 in the series, collecting at least one base knock in all three games. On Saturday, senior Camryn Szynski delivered his longest outing of the season, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing just one run on two hits, and striking out five in the effort. Senior Owen Jackson collected two base hits and reached base in all five of his plate appearances on Sunday.
 
ROCKET NOTES
  • Toledo is 3-2 against the Horizon League this year, winning both matchups against Youngstown State, once against Oakland, and falling twice to Wright State.
  • UT is 3-5 in mid-week games this season, including 1-3 in road games.
  • Junior Caden Konczak is currently on an eight-game hitting streak, batting .281 (9-for-32) in that span.
  • Pike is batting .381 (8-for-21) in his last five games, with three multi-hit games in that stretch.

  • The Rockets have turned 31 double plays, third-most in the league.

Toledo stays on the road for a three-game series at Ohio April 26-28, with Friday's series opener beginning at 6:00 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
