Toledo is one of five teams ranked in Top 100 competing in event this weekend
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's golf team will receive its final tune-up for the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships when it travels to Illinois this weekend for the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate. The tournament will be held on Saturday-Sunday, April 20-21 at the par-71, 7,538-yard Atkins Golf Club in Urbana, Ill.
The Field
The Rockets are ranked No. 94 in the latest national computer rankings (Clippd) and are joined by four other programs - No. 18 Illinois, No. 39 Northwestern, No. 81 Michigan State, No. 89 Michigan – ranked in the Top 100. The tournament also includes Ball State, Butler, DePaul, Loyola Chicago, Marquette, South Dakota, and UC-San Diego.
This Week's Lineup
The Rockets' lineup will include senior Barend Botha at No. 1, senior Palmer Yenrick at No. 2, senior Jamie Tofte Nielsen at No. 3, junior CJ van Wyk at No. 4, and sophomore Mads Jensen at No. 5.

Botha leads the team with a 71.0 stroke average this season followed by Nielsen with a 72.9 mark.

CJ van Wyk fired a career-best five-under par 66 in the final round of Virginia's Lewis Chitengwa Memorial to lead Toledo to a seventh-place showing. The tournament included six schools ranked in the nation's Top 40.
van Wyk finished the 54-hole event tied for seventh place with a four-under par 209 (72-71-66).
