Junior shoots even-par to register top finish of season
WILMINGTON, N.C. – Junior Mason Deal tied for 11th place on Tuesday to lead the Toledo men's golf team at the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate. The Rockets placed 11th in the team standings as well at the par-72, 7,030-yard Country Club of Landfall Course.
Deal shot a one-over par 73 today to finish the 54-hole event at even-par. He played his final 11 holes at one-under par and tied sophomore Bence Bertenyi for the team lead with 11 birdies.
Host UNC Wilmington captured the tournament title at 18-under par, nine shots in front of No. 26 Duke, after registering an 11-under par 277 in the final round. The Seahawks' Gray Mitchum and the Blue Devils' William Love shared medalist honors at six-under par 210.
Toledo will return to action in two weeks when it travels to Charlottesville, Va. for Virginia's Lewis Chitengwa Memorial on Monday-Tuesday, April 13-14.
