Junior tied for team lead with nine birdies
WILMINGTON, N.C. – Junior Mason Deal shot one-under par on Monday to lead the Toledo men's golf team in the first two rounds of the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate. The Rockets are in 10th place in the team standings at the par-72, 7,030-yard Country Club of Landfall Course.
Deal is tied for the team lead with nine birdies along with sophomore Bence Bertenyi. He shot an even-par 72 this morning before firing a one-under par 71 in the afternoon after playing his final 13 holes at three-under par.
Senior Bence Kotel paced the Rockets this morning with a four-under par 68. He registered four birdies and was bogey-free over the 18 holes.
VCU, Stetson and UNC-Wilmington are leading the 15-team field at seven-under par, two strokes ahead of No. 26 Duke. The Hatters' Jackson Hicks is leading all individuals at six-under par.
The Rockets will conclude the tournament with tomorrow's final round set for an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
