Senior associate athletic director Brian for compliance and integrity Brian Lutz has served in the Toledo Athletic Department’s compliance office since 2003 where he is responsible for managing the department’s compliance to NCAA, MAC and institutional rules and guidelines. He also serves as sport administrator for women's soccer, women's track & field, women's cross country and men's cross country.
Lutz is the chairman of the Toledo Athletics Compliance Council, as well as the Professional Sports Counseling Panel, which advises Rocket athletes who are contemplating a career in professional sports. He has also chaired search committees for the head football and basketball coaches. An active member of the NCAA, he has been a guest presenter at NCAA seminars and Mid-American Conference annual meetings, was a member of the NCAA Amateurism Fact Finding Committee, and served on the LEAD1 Enforcement Working Group. He is also the sports administrator for the Rockets’ men's and women's tennis programs.Â

Lutz joined the Rockets' staff in 2003, working first as the assistant athletic director for compliance for five years before moving to the position of associate athletic director in 2008.

Lutz career began at West Virginia University as a compliance graduate assistant for two years while he completed his master’s of science degree in 2000. Upon graduation, he worked as the assistant director of compliance for three years at Kansas State University.
A Duquesne University graduate, Lutz earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Lutz and his wife, Heather, are the parents of a son, Conor (15), and a daughter, Ava (11). The Pittsburgh, Pa. native enjoys fitness, reading, movies, music, golf and coaching baseball.Â
