Toledo Falls to Ball State

Taylor Alt leads the Rockets' offense with 13 kills on Saturday

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team fell to Ball State, 3-0 (21-25, 13-25, 20-25) on Saturday evening. The loss keeps Toledo (15-13, 8-8 MAC) in seventh place in the Mid-American Conference standings, just two games out of tournament contention.

Fifth year senior Taylor Alt paced the Toledo offense, totaling 13 kills and eight digs. Alt has recorded double-figure kills in 21 matches this season. Junior outside hitter Izzy Granger added eight kills and two service aces while redshirt freshman middle blocker Sierra Pertzborn tallied seven terminations. Freshman outside hitter Olivia Haitkamp recorded six kills, her seventh-consecutive match with six or more terminations.

Freshman libero Grace Freiberger had a team-high 19 digs, marking her 25th career match with double-figure digs. Sophomore setter Macy Hatkevich tallied 33 assists to go along with six digs. Sophomore Caylee Sharkey added two service aces.

"I wish we had a different outcome on Senior Night but that doesn't lessen the bright light that these three seniors had on our program," said Head Coach Jason Oliver. "I am proud of their efforts and the people they are. Time to focus as a team and get better in the last parts of the season."

Ball State (18-8, 11-4 MAC) was led by Katie Egenolf and Carson Tyler with eight kills each.
