TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team fell to Ball State, 3-0 (21-25, 13-25, 20-25) on Saturday evening. The loss keeps Toledo (15-13, 8-8 MAC) in seventh place in the Mid-American Conference standings, just two games out of tournament contention.
Fifth year senior
Taylor Alt paced the Toledo offense, totaling 13 kills and eight digs. Alt has recorded double-figure kills in 21 matches this season. Junior outside hitter
Izzy Granger added eight kills and two service aces while redshirt freshman middle blocker
Sierra Pertzborn tallied seven terminations. Freshman outside hitter Olivia Haitkamp recorded six kills, her seventh-consecutive match with six or more terminations.

Grace Freiberger had a team-high 19 digs, marking her 25
th career match with double-figure digs. Sophomore setter
Macy Hatkevich tallied 33 assists to go along with six digs. Sophomore
Caylee Sharkey added two service aces.
"I wish we had a different outcome on Senior Night but that doesn't lessen the bright light that these three seniors had on our program," said Head Coach
Jason Oliver. "I am proud of their efforts and the people they are. Time to focus as a team and get better in the last parts of the season."
Ball State (18-8, 11-4 MAC) was led by Katie Egenolf and Carson Tyler with eight kills each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE (25-21 Ball State)
- Kills from Taylor Alt, Olivia Heitkamp and Izzy Granger and a block from Anna Alford and Granger gave the Rockets an early 7-4 advantage.
- A 7-0 run by Ball State put the Cardinals in front, 13-8.
- Caylee Sharkey recorded her first service ace of the match to keep Toledo within two, 15-13.
- Ball State extended their lead to four, 19-15, but the Rockets rattled off three-straight points to cut the lead to one, 19-18.
- Sierra Pertzborn grabbed a kill to keep the score within one, 22-21, but Ball State fired off three quick points and took the set win with a kill.
SET TWO (25-13 Ball State)
- A 9-0 surge by the Cardinals, powered by five service aces, put Ball State in front, 15-5.
- Granger cut the lead to nine, 17-8, with a termination. The Cardinals used three-consecutive points to extend their advantage, 20-8.
- Ball State took the set victory with a termination.
SET THREE (25-20 Ball State)
- Back-to-back service aces from Granger put Toledo ahead early, 6-4.
- Both teams traded points to keep the score within one. The third set saw 11 ties and four lead changes.
- Kills from Heitkamp and Granger kept the Rockets neck-and-neck with the Cardinals.
- Tied at 20-20, Ball State fired off five consecutive points for the match win.

The Rockets close out the regular season with a trip to Kent, Ohio. Toledo and Kent State will meet on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 4:00 p.m.
