TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team concluded its 2024 fall campaign on Sunday after competing against individuals from Case Western Reserve, Denison, Marquette and the University of Northwest Ohio at Launchpad Tennis. No team results were kept.

The Zach Barden Memorial Invite is held as a tribute to former Rocket Zach Barden. The Zacharias Barden Legacy Foundation exists to help support Zach's passions, including improving tennis and fitness opportunities for Toledo-area community members. Those interested in donating can do so here.

Poonthong Komolpisut and Joshua Mackey teamed up in doubles play, winning the doubles flight during the weekend. The Toledo duo defeated four duos from Case Western en route to the championship.

Cole Cozens and Charlie Snow also combined in the doubles draw, making it to the semifinal round before falling to a duo from Case Western. Cozens grabbed three singles win during the weekend while Snow posted two wins in singles play.

The Rockets had a strong showing in the A Singles Draw, as Hanamichi Carvajal and Komolpisut played each other in the championship match. Komolpisut defeated Marquette's Kristian Blagoev and Denison's Andreas Chapides in straight sets before earning a win over teammate Cozens in the semifinal match. Carvajal took down three opponents from Case Western before defeating Komolpisut in the championship.

"It was a big weekend for Team Toledo," said Head Coach Al Wermer. "We landed two singles players in the A singles final and they had an incredible championship match today. Before that match, we won the doubles championship. We hosted a lot of very hungry players and I think our guys enjoyed getting tested.  Most importantly was the cause this weekend and we would encourage support to the Zach Barden Legacy Foundation."
