TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team returns home this weekend for a pair of Mid-American Conference matches. The Rockets will host Central Michigan on Thursday, Oct. and Eastern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 11. Both matches will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
Toledo comes into the weekend with a record of 10-7 (3-2 MAC) after falling to Bowling Green at home and splitting the road series with Ohio last week. Central Michigan enters the weekend with an overall record of 13-4 (4-1 MAC), with their only conference loss being a 3-2 decision against Ball State on Oct. 4. Eastern Michigan owns a record of 10-9 (4-1), falling only to Central Michigan, 3-0, on Oct. 1.
ROCKET NOTES
- Toledo is second in the MAC and 17th in the country in total service aces (118). Additionally, the team ranks third in the league and 47th nationally in service aces per set (1.82).
- Taylor Alt is second in the conference and 39th nationally in total kills (233). Alt also ranks third in the MAC in kills per set with 3.64.
- Alt has totaled 1,943 career kills which puts her fourth all-time in the Mid-American Conference. The Ottawa, Ohio native is 42 kills away from becoming the MAC's all-time leader in kills. Alt is also within the top-three in the NCAA Division I Active Kill Leaders.
- Freshman libero Grace Freiberger is sixth in the MAC in digs per set, averaging 4.19.
- Redshirt Freshman Sierra Pertzborn is sixth in the league in blocks, averaging 1.10 per set.
- Sophomore Macy Hatkevich ranks eighth in the conference in assists, good for 7.00 per set.
SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
- Central Michigan ranks first in the league in total assists, digs and kills. The Chippewas have totaled 843 assists, which is good for second in the nation. Additionally, Central Michigan has totaled 1,123 total digs to rank fourth in the nation and 917 total kills, which is the most in the country.
- Freshman libero Hannah Langton is fourth in the conference and 43rd in the country in digs per set, averaging 4.64 per set.
- Junior outside hitter Natalia Rejment is pacing the Chippewas' offense, averaging 2.67 kills per set. Senior opposite Krystina Kasson is close behind with 2.60 kills per set.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- Eastern Michigan is first in the MAC and 34th in the country in blocks per set, averaging 2.61.
- The Eagles are second in the league and 12th nationally in team digs with 1,084. Additionally, Eastern Michigan is second in the conference team kills and 18th in the country with 837.
- Freshman middle blocker Hatteras Welker ranks first in the MAC in total blocks (76) and second in the league blocks per set (1.33).
- Senior libero Hannah Blaney is fifth in the league in digs per set with 4.32.
SERIES STUFF
- Central Michigan controls the all-time series, 57-26. The Rockets and Chippewas split the 2023 series in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
- Eastern Michigan leads the all-time series, 59-23. Toledo won both matches during the 2023 season at Savage Arena.
UP NEXT
The Rockets head on the road for a pair of matches next week. Toledo will face Akron on Thursday, Oct. 17 and will conclude the weekend at Buffalo on Friday, Oct. 18. Both matches are set to begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
