EAST LANSING, Mich. – Sophomore Poonthong Komolpisut led the way for the Toledo men's tennis team at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament in East Lansing, Mich., as he reached the Round of 16 main singles draw.

Komolpisut compiled a 2-1 singles record during the main draw tournament, defeating opponents from Michigan State and Northwestern before falling to Sebastian Dominko from Notre Dame.

The Rockets tallied a total singles record of 7-4 and a doubles record of 1-2 during the weekend.

Sophomore Hanamichi Carvajal also competed in the singles main draw, going 1-1 in the tournament. Carvajal defeated Artem Alekseychuk from UIC before dropping in straight sets to Will Cooksey from Michigan.

Sophomores Joshua Mackey and Cole Cozens saw action in the singles qualifying draw. Cozens returned to work alongside Carvajal in doubles play, earning a win over Ashton Adesoro/Brogan Pierce from Western Michigan before falling to Northwestern's Fleix Nordby/Vincent Yang.

"We got a lot of mileage out of this weekend because we were tested in quite a few matches, which is what we need," said head coach Al Wermer. "PK (Poonthong Komolpisut) stole the show, however, winning two rounds in the main draw and going toe to toe with Dominko from Notre Dame, who is one of the top players in the country. PK has shown incredible improvement over the last year!"

Toledo will return to work at the MAC Indoor Tournament on Oct. 24-27 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
