TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior
Pawit Sornlaksup will enter the fall season ranked 80th among NCAA Division I Men's Singles Players, according to the preseason rankings released by The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday.
As the two-time reigning MAC Player of the Year, Sornlaksup continues to raise the standards as Toledo's No. 1 singles player. He has won 43-straight singles matches in dual competition since January 2022. His last match victory was the clinching point in the 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament final match vs. Western Michigan on April 23. The Rockets' title was their first in 50 years and earned UT a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
The Rayong, Thailand native has been unbeaten against MAC opponents, winning 22-consecutive league matches from the top court. At the end of last season, Sornlaksup earned first-team All-MAC, MAC Tournament MVP, and MAC All-Tournament Team honors in addition to receiving the ITA Midwest Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award.
Toledo will begin the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule on Friday-Sunday, Sept. 22-24 at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Milwaukee, Wis.
