TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo men's tennis Head Coach Al Wermer announced the addition of
Hiroki Fujita to the Rockets' coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season on Tuesday.
"Hiroki combines extensive international playing and college experience with tremendous coaching background," said Wermer. "His insight and relatability will be big assets in advancing and supporting our players and program."
Originally from Ryugasaki, Japan, Fujita played collegiately at Idaho State. He posted an overall singles record of 41-32 in dual matches and went 13-5 in doubles play during the 2022 season. Additionally, Fujita was named to the All-Big Sky Second Team twice in his playing career. Prior to Idaho State, he was a finalist in the ITF J5 in Guam and a doubles champion at the ITF J5 in Noumea.
"I'm excited to join a team that has seen recent success in the MAC and work alongside a coach who has more than 30 years of experience," said Fujita. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a strong team and I look forward to contributing to its success."
Following his graduation from Idaho State, Fujita spent one season as a coach at Seattle University.
