2022 in Review

Last season, Toledo posted a 19-13 record and advanced to the NIVC for the second straight year, defeating Clemson to advance to the second round. The victory was the second Power Five win for the Rockets last season, who won at Arizona State on Aug. 27.

2023 at a Glance

Toledo welcomes back 12 letterwinners from a year ago, including three-time All-MAC honoree Taylor Alt and fifth-year seniors Ryann Jaqua and Rhyenne Filisi. Alt led the MAC in both kills (4.12/set) and scoring (4.75 points/set) last season, while Jaqua ranked third in the MAC and 20th in the nation in digs/set (5.04).

Taylor Alt Named Preseason All-MAC

One of the best players in the MAC, Alt was named to the league's preseason all-conference squad for a third straight season. She had six matches with at least 20 kills last season and recorded double-digit terminations in 26 matches. Her 1,232 career kills rank fifth all-time in program history.

Scouting the Competition

Northeastern: The Huskies finished with a 14-13 overall record and went 10-6 in CAA play. Northeastern entered the conference tournament as the four-seed, and its tournament run was highlighted by a four-set win over five-seed Elon. The victory was the Huskies' first quarterfinal win since 2013.

Wake Forest: Wake Forest was 17-13 last season and advanced to the second round of the NIVC after defeating Coppin State in the first round. Last season's ACC Freshman of the Year, Emma Farrell, returns after leading the conference in digs/set (4.41).

Grand Canyon: Grand Canyon posted an 18-11 record last season and advanced to the second round of the NIVC with a four-set win over Wichita State in the opening round. Setter Klaire Mitchell and outside hitter Tatum Parrott were named to the WAC's preseason all-conference team.
