Toledo Heading to Kalamazoo for 2023 MAC Championships This Weekend

Rockets playing 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Kalamazoo Country Club

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's golf team will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. this weekend for the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships. The 54-hole tournament will include 10 schools and be played at the par-72, 6,011-yard Kalamazoo Country Club on Friday-Sunday, April 21-23. Tee times will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. The Rockets' tee times on Friday will be from 12:00-12:40 p.m., with Saturday's and Sunday's times determined by the team standings following each round.

THE FIELD
• Ten schools are participating in the MAC Championships.
• Kent State is the only school to win the MAC Championship in its 23-year history and is the favorite to win the tournament again this year. The Golden Flashes are ranked No. 42 in Golfstat's national rankings with Northern Illinois the next MAC school appearing at No. 130.

ROCKETS AT THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Sophomore Yedam Lee is leading the Rockets with a career-best 75.6 stroke average with senior Amelia Lee (76.2), and junior Macy Hanus (76.6) ranking second and third, respectively.
• Lee led Toledo at last year's MAC Championships by tying for 14th place.
• Junior Angel Hii tied for 10th place at the 2021 MAC Championships when she was a freshman for the best finish by a Rocket on the current roster.
• Junior Cheryl Hong will also be in the Rockets' lineup and tied for 18th place at the 2021 MAC Championships as a freshman.
• The Rockets have finished as the runner-up in five of the last nine MAC Championships and placed in the top four in seven of those years.
• Toledo's all-time showings in the event have included five second-place (2006, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019), seven third-place (1999, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015), five fourth-place (2000, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2021), three fifth-place (2005, 2009, 2017) and two sixth-place (2011, 2022) finishes.

LAST TIME OUT
• Toledo finished 11 strokes in front of its nearest competitor to win Bowling Green's Dolores Black Falcon Invitational on April 7-8. The Rockets shot a team score of 28-over par 604 to win their first tournament title since March 4-5, 2019 at the Battle at Boulder Creek
• Senior Amelia Lee led the way individually by nearly capturing her second tournament title of the season. She tied for first place at three-over par 147 (73-74) but lost in a playoff against Loyola's Grace Suter.

ON THE HORIZON
• The winning team at the 2023 MAC Championships will qualify for NCAA Regionals action on May 8-10.
