Rockets Head to New York for Back-To-Back MAC Matches

Toledo will face Buffalo on Friday afternoon and Binghamton on Sunday morning

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team looks to get back in the win column this weekend as it heads to New York for back-to-back Mid-American Conference matches with Buffalo on Saturday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. and Binghamton on Sunday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m.

About the Rockets (9-5, 1-2 MAC)
The Rockets had its five-match home winning streak snapped this weekend with losses to Northern Illinois and reigning MAC Championship Western Michigan. The Rockets won the doubles point against the Broncos, but claimed two additional singles courts to fall 4-3 overall. Pawit Sornlaksup and Krzysztof Wetoszka each went 2-0 in singles play over the weekend and are both 3-0 in conference play from their respective courts this season.

Sornlaksup's wins over NIU's Oliver Valentinsson and WMU's Benjamin George from the No. 1 court extended the junior's winning streak to 34 matches and 13-straight wins against conference opponents dating back to last January.

Wetoszka has won his last six matches from the No. 2 court. He earned a win over WMU's Peter Kuszynski on Sunday afternoon after dropping his first set and winning the second and third for the match win.

About Buffalo (5-5, 1-2 MAC)
Buffalo earned its first conference win over the weekend following a 5-2 decision vs. Binghamton, after falling to NIU and WMU the week prior. Aleksandr Kalinin is 5-2 from the top singles court for the Bulls, while duo Simon Wibler and Finn Macnamara are 4-2 from the No. 1 doubles court this season.

About Binghamton (4-13, 0-3 MAC)
Binghamton started the month of match with back-to-back wins against Niagara and Colgate, before dropping three consecutive conference matches to the Broncos, the Huskies, and the Bulls. Kyle Weekes (No. 4) was the only Bearcats to earn a win against NIU, while William Morais Binne (No. 2) and Ronin Lotikar (No. 4) recorded wins against the Bulls last weekend.

BU will face Ball State on Friday afternoon before taking the court vs. the Rockets on Sunday morning.
