TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's track & field team will open the outdoor portion of the 2022-23 season this Thursday-Saturday, March 23-25, competing in the Raleigh Relays. The meet, held at NC State's Paul Derr Track & Field Facility, will begin with field events at 9:45 a.m. each day. The Rockets will be represented by nine distance runners, Alexia Moehling competing in multi events, and four members of the Toledo men's cross country team.Â
The Rockets capped off their indoor season with a seventh-place team finish at the 2023 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 24-25. Junior Lou Trois captured an individual MAC title in the mile with a time of 4:54.05, while freshmen Karina James (4:56.09) and Lianna Surtz (4:58.24) also placed in the top five in the event.
Toledo's distance medley relay team of Emily Vining, Jaydon Cirincione, Ava Moran, and Trois took second place with a time of 11:46.10, the 10th-fastest time in school history, while sophomore Joy Chirchir placed fourth in the 5000m (16:27.71) and fifth in the 3000m (9:38.79). Also earning a top-five finish for the Rockets was junior Madeline Vining, who finished fifth in the 5000m with a time of 16:31.83.
Four Rockets earned All-MAC honors for their performances during the indoor season. Trois earned first-team honors, while Emily Vining, Moran, and Cirincione were named to the second team.
