BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo women's track & field team earned three podium finishes on the opening day of the 2023 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, hosted by Bowling Green State University, on Friday. Madeline Vining placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 5000m.

The Rockets are in seventh place with a total of 17 points after one day of action.

The Rockets' DMR team of
Emily Vining,
Jaydon Cirincione,
Ava Moran, and
Lou Trois finished runner-up in the event, completing the race in 11:46.10. The group earned a spot in the Toledo record books and on the podium, recording the 10
th-fastest time in school history.

Chirchir and
Madeline Vining both earned podium finishes for the Rockets in the 5000m final. Chirchir recorded a time of 16:27.71 for fourth place while Vining crossed the finish line right behind her at 16:31.83. Sophomore
Julia Dames also competed in the event, placing 14
th with a time of 17:41.30.

The Rockets put on a dominant showing in the mile prelims as all four members of the squad qualified for the finals. Trois (4:56.73) posted the top time in the event to lead the way for Toledo. Freshmen
Karina James and
Lianna Surtz recorded respective times of 4:56.96 and 4:57.44, while sophomore
Alex Bauer crossed the finish line at 4:57.66.

Alexia Moehling set a PR in the 60H for the second week in a row, recording a time of 8.66 to qualify for the finals. Moehling's time placed her at No. 4 all-time on Toledo's top-10 list in the event. Also competing in the 60H was sophomore
Mayson Bates, who posted a time of 8.88.

In the 800m prelims, Clark came within a second of her personal best with a time of 2:13.25, qualifying for the finals. Sullivan also competed in the event, crossing the finish line at 2:15.74.

Paris Gosha was the lone Rocket to compete in the 60m prelims. She matched her personal-best time of 7.80 in the event.

Amara Okpalaoka leaped to a mark of 5.50 in the long jump, with Okpalaoka recording a season-best jump. Sophomore
Sydney Caddell rounded out the field for the Rockets with a 4.95 mark.

The meet will continue on Saturday, with field events beginning at 11:00 a.m. and running events kicking off at 1:30 p.m.
