TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team looks to rebound after its four-match winning streak was snapped on Sunday afternoon by Xavier. UT (5-3) will face Duquesne (2-3) and Chicago State (0-7) on Friday, Feb. 17 at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.

First serve for the Rockets vs. the Dukes is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. match vs. the Cougars.

"We're at the on-ramp for our MAC season," Head Coach Al Wermer said. "The team has some performance goals, and we're in the building block phase. A doubleheader day gives us a nice test. The meaning of Everybody vs. Cancer will be in our thoughts."

About the Rockets
Toledo won two of its three matches last week, over 2022 GLIAC Champs Wayne State on Thursday and at Dayton on Saturday. It came down to the wire for Toledo on Sunday afternoon at Xavier, but the Rockets ultimately fell 4-3 to the Musketeers.

Pawit Sornlaksup won all three of his matches from the No. 1 court last week, extending his personal singles streak to 28 matches since last January.

About Duquesne
Duquesne finished 10-10 (2-2 A10) last season and fell to Saint Joseph's in the Atlantic 10 Championship match. The Dukes picked up its first two wins of the season last weekend, a 7-0 sweep over Carnegie Mellon and a 5-2 victory vs. Colgate. The wins are the first two for new Director of Tennis Budi Sisanto, who took control of the program in August 2022. Kaipo Marshall was responsible for both Dukes' wins from the No. 1 court last weekend and is an undefeated 3-0.

This pairing will be the second time this 2022-23 season that Duquesne and Toledo have taken the court, having participated in the Everybody vs. Cancer Invite on Oct. 14-16. The Rockets won all four singles matchups, and the Dukes won the lone doubles match.

About Chicago State
Chicago State finished 9-15 during the 2021-22 season, falling to New Mexico State in the first round of the WAC Tournament. The Cougars have yet to record a win this season. Pedro Alvarez (No. 1), Hugo Hidalgo Vega (No. 2) and Rodrigo Alvarez (No. 5) have three individual match wins for CSU.

Both matches will be an Everybody vs. Cancer promotion, and UToledo asks fans donate to www.donate3.cancer.org  and those in attendance will receive a free Everybody vs. Cancer T-Shirt in support.
