Toledo to Host Marshall in Wednesday Night Matchup in Savage

Rockets looking to continue momentum from last week's two victories

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (5-4) looks to match its longest winning streak of the season when it hosts Sun Belt Conference foe Marshall (3-6) on Wednesday, Dec. 13 in Savage Arena. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m. with streaming on ESPN+.

The Rockets won both of their games last week with a 69-68 triumph at Oakland and a come-from-behind 84-80 victory over Northern Iowa at Savage Arena. UT trailed by eight points midway through the second half vs. the Panthers before going on a 12-0 run on its way to the win.

Tyler Cochran registered his first double-double as a Rocket with 19 points and a game-high 12 rebounds against the Panthers. Ra'Heim Moss also poured in 21 points and was joined in double figures by Javan Simmons and Dante Maddox Jr. with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Moss is leading the Rockets offensively with a career-high 16.2 ppg and is followed closely by Maddox's career-high 15.2 ppg. Simmons is averaging 12.3 ppg with a team-best 58.2 FG%, while Cochran is averaging 10.1 ppg and a team-high 5.8 rpg and 2.3 spg.

Marshall snapped a four-game losing streak with a 74-69 victory at Ohio on Saturday night. The Thundering Herd scored the game's final 12 points after trailing 69-62 with 2:11 remaining.

Obinna Anochili-Killen and Kevon Voyles lead a balanced Marshall offense with 14.7 and 14.3 ppg, respectively. They are joined in double digits by Nate Martin (11.7 ppg, team-high 9.6 rpg) and Kamdyn Curfman (11.3 ppg).

Toledo will be facing Marshall for the eighth-straight year. The Rockets saw their five-game winning streak against the Thundering Herd last season with a 100-85 setback in Huntington. RayJ Dennis and JT Shumate led UT with 21 points apiece.

•  Junior Ra'Heim Moss has scored in double digits in every game this season after scoring in double figures on 13 occasions last year.  He has now scored in double digits 36 times in his Rocket career and leads UT with 42 FTs made and 56 FTs attempted.
•  Junior Dante Maddox Jr. ranks second in team scoring with a career-high 15.2 ppg and leads the team with 20 three-point field goals made. He also ranks second on the team with 15 steals.
•  Junior Tyler Cochran leads the MAC with a team-high 2.3 spg and leads the team with with 5.0 rpg. In his last three games, Cochran is averaging 13.5 ppg and 8.8 rpg.
•  Cochran has SEVEN career double-doubles following his 19-point, 12-rebound outing vs. Northern Iowa. He registered four double-doubles at NIU and two at Ball State.
•  Redshirt freshman Javan Simmons is third on the team with 12.3 ppg and has scored in double digits in eight of his first nine collegiate contests. He has a team-best 59.1 FG% and 83.8 FT%.
•  Simmons has shot over 50 percent from the field in eight of nine games. In his last four contests, he is shooting 64.3% (18-of-28) from the field.
•  Freshman Sonny Wilson leads the team with 2.7 apg and a 2.4 assist/turnover ratio. In the Rockets' win at Oakland last Wednesday, he dished out a team-high four assists with zero turnovers in a season-high 36 minutes.
•  Junior Andre Lorentsson ranks second in the MAC with a 55.0 3PTFG% (11-of-20). Lorentsson scored a career-high 17 points (6-8 FG, 4-5 3FG)vs. New Mexico (Nov. 21).
 
TEAM TIDBITS
•  Toledo ranks first among MAC schools in the latest NET rankings at No. 94. UT's four losses have come vs. #12 Indiana St., #24 New Mexico, #59 George Mason, and #68 UC Irvine.
•  The Rockets have captured two of the MAC's three Quad 2 victories with road wins over No. 105 Oakland and No. 127 Wright State.
•  Toledo leads the MAC with a 48.0 FG%, 76.6 FT%, and a 1.17 assist/turnover ratio and ranks second with a 38.5 three-point FG% and 8.2 spg.
•  Toledo is 3-3 when trailing after 20 minutes. The Rockets was down to Louisiana by as many as 16 points and Oakland and Northern Iowa by eight points before rallying to win.
•  Eight of the Rockets' nine games have been decided by 10 points or less. UT is 3-1 in games decided by 1-5 points and 1-3 in games decided by 6-10 points.

ON THE HORIZON
     Toledo will conclude its three-game homestand against Marshall on Wednesday, Dec. 13. The Rockets will then have a week off before hosting Vermont on Wednesday, Dec. 20. UT will play at West Virginia on Saturday, Dec. 23 before opening Mid-American Conference play at Ohio on Tuesday, Jan. 2 on ESPNU.
