Poonthong Komolpisut each collected valuable singles and doubles ATP world rankings points at the national M25 ITF Future Tour in Columbus, Ohio. Sornlaksup reached the quarterfinals of the main singles draw before falling to Ohio State's two-time All-American Andrew Cash, while Komolpisut fell in the qualifying bracket.
Sornlaksup, ranked No. 68 in the country, automatically qualified for the main draw. He won a quick two-set match over Henry Lieberman in his first match on Wednesday and went on to defeat Quinn Vandecasteele on Thursday in the second round. Sornlaksup took the court with Cash in the quarterfinals match on Friday afternoon and was defeated 6-3, 7-6(2) to end his run. Sornlaksup collected three ATP points to raise his ATP world singles rankings to approximately 1100.
Komolpisut had a two-set victory in his first pro tournament match, defeating Andrew Condita. His run was then ended after falling to Jim Henrdikx in three hard-fought sets.
In doubles play, the Thailand pair swept their first counterparts (6-0, 6-0), but were eliminated from the bracket in the men's quarterfinals (6-2, 6-3) on Thursday evening. Sornlaksup and Komolpisut each collected one ATP doubles point, Sornalksup raising his doubles score to approximately 1800 and Komolpisut receiving his first world ranking point.
The Rockets will be back on the court in January 2024 for the spring portion of their schedule, which is set to be released at a later date.
