TOLEDO, Ohio – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its fall Division I Men's National Singles and Doubles Computerized Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point for the Top 125 Singles and Top 60 Doubles Teams across the country on Wednesday. For the second straight season, Toledo's
Pawit Sornlaksup was ranked among the top singles players, coming in at No. 68, and is the only Mid-American Conference player on the list.
The 2023 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year entered the fall season as ranked 80th in the singles rankings and jumped to the No. 68 spot in two months of heavy competition. Sornlaksup ended the fall 2022 season ranked 124th.
The Rayong, Thailand native has compiled a 9-3 singles record and a 5-2 doubles record. He was one of two Rockets to compete at the ITA All-American Championships (Oct. 2) and was the first Rocket ever to reach the semifinals of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic (Sept. 22). He also reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regionals (Oct. 19), and defeated No. 55-ranked Karlis Ozolins of Illinois (then ranked No.11).
In November, Sornlaksup won the Flight 1 Singles and Flight 1 Doubles at the MAC Indoors for the second year in a row to maintain his undefeated record against conference opponents dating back to the 2021-22 season. He will take a program-record 43-match singles winning streak in dual competition into the spring season. Â
The defending MAC Champion Rockets will begin the spring portion of their 2023-24 schedule at Indiana on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Bloomington, Ind.
