TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's basketball team opened the 2023-24 season with a 93-62 exhibition win over Ferris State on Saturday afternoon in Savage Arena.

Junior Dante Maddox Jr. led the Rockets with 19 points, while junior Tyler Cochran scored 10 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Also scoring in double digits were redshirt freshman Javan Simmons (13), junior André Lorentsson (12), and junior Ben Wight (10).

The Bulldogs stayed close with the Rockets in the first half, trailing by only four points, 29-25, at halftime. Toledo took control of the game in the second half with a 14-2 run in a two-minute stretch to make it 56-35 with 14:05 on the clock. The Rockets' biggest lead was 36 points, a 91-55 cushion, with 2:56 left to play.

 Toledo will play one more exhibition game on Sunday, Oct. 29 at NCAA Division II opponent Findlay. Tipoff between the Rockets and Oilers is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

UT's first official game is against Detroit Mercy on Monday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena.
