TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team is looking to get back on the winning track when it welcomes Youngstown State to Shadow Valley Tennis Club this Friday, Jan. 27. The Rockets (1-2) and Penguins will take the court at 1:00 p.m.
Toledo is coming off losses to a pair of top Big Ten squads, at Indiana on Jan. 15 and at No. 3 Ohio State on Jan. 19.
"Youngstown is the defending Horizon League Champions and we know that if we don't play well, we are in trouble," head coach
Al Wermer said. "But that being said, we need to stay focused on getting better since last week. We're locked into 'week-by-week' mode right now."
About the Rockets
Junior
Pawit Sornlaksup was named Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week on Jan. 19, following his 2-0 performance in the Rockets' opening weekend. In its last match, Toledo drove down US-23 to take on No.2 Ohio State University, but came out on the losing end of a 4-0 decision.

Marko Galic are both undefeated in singles play heading into Friday's match. Sornlaksup has 24 singles matches in dual competition, dating back to Jan. 29, 2022. Galic, also on a win streak, has won his last 10 matches dating back to March 19, 2022.
About Youngstown State
Youngstown State is looking for its first win of the season. YSU fell to 5-2 to Butler in its season-opener, picking up wins form the No. 2 and No. singles. The Penguins wo the doubles point vs. Dayton but could only claim two more singles courts to lose the match 3-4. Sophomore Nathan Favier leads the Penguins from the No. 3 cout with a 2-0 dual record. The Penguins will battle Buffalo on Thursday afternoon before making the trip to Toledo on Friday.
