Toledo Releases 2022 Schedule

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team's 2022 schedule has been finalized, Head Coach TJ Buchholz announced today. The schedule includes seven non-conference games and 11 Mid-American Conference matchups, including a matchup vs. 2021 NCAA Quarterfinalist Michigan at Paul Hotmer Field.

"We are looking forward to a strong schedule this fall," Buchholz said, who will be entering his eighth season with the Rockets. "It will be exciting to play some great opponents in the non-conference, including hosting Michigan on September 11th.  Our strong non-conference games will get us very ready to play a challenging MAC schedule." 

The Rockets will play two exhibition games prior to the start of their season, welcoming UIC (Aug. 8) and visiting Valparaiso (Aug. 12) before opening their season on the road at Dayton (Aug. 18) and Big Ten foe Illinois (Aug. 21). UT will split its time between Paul Hotmer Field and in Terre Haute, Ind. the last week of August, hosting Purdue Fort Wayne (Aug. 25) and heading to Indiana State (Aug. 28).

Toledo will open September with two home games vs. Oakland (Sept. 1) and the Wolverines (Sept. 11) before heading to Tempe, Ariz. to face Arizona State (Sept. 18) to close out its non-conference schedule.

From there, the Midnight Blue and Gold will begin its MAC schedule at rival and defending conference champion Bowling Green (Sept. 22) and close the regular season at home vs. Western Michigan (Oct. 27). Including the annual I-75 rival game, Toledo will play four more games on the road, visiting Kent State (Oct. 2), Central Michigan (Oct. 9), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 13), and Akron (Oct. 23). Paul Hotmer Field will see the Rockets play host to Northern Illinois (Sept. 25), Buffalo (Sept. 29), Ball State (Oct. 6), Miami (Oct. 16), Ohio (Oct. 20) and Western Michigan.

The top six teams in the conference standings will punch their ticket to the MAC tournament which is set to take place on campus sites. The quest for the title will begin with quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 30, followed by semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 3 and the championship match on Sunday Nov. 6.

Toledo returns 24 members from its 2021 squad, including 2021 MAC Freshman of the Year McKenna Schultz and Second Team All-MAC honoree Olivia Dault. Schultz and Dault also were named to the MAC All-Freshman team. The Rockets welcome five newcomers to the field in the fall, including graduate transfer Morgan Otteson.
