RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Toledo women's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 7-0 sweep over UC Riverside on Saturday. The win marks the Rockets' third straight victory and improves them to 10-2 on the season.
Toledo started off strong in doubles competition, winning all three courts including a huge 7-6(5) victory on the No. 2 court by junior
Sloane Teske and sophomore
Shalini Tallamraju.
The Rockets did not hold back in singles competition. Senior
Eileen Carney was down the first set on the No. 5 court, and came back to take back-to-back sets for the match win 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.
Teske's win over Sofia Lazzaroni on the No. 2 court marked her 12th straight singles win this season, 13th straight dating back to last season.Â
"It's great to beat an outdoor team,outside," head coach
Tracy Mauntler said. "The conditions were extremely windy and I was so proud of the grit our players showed."Â
Toledo (10-3) will play its final non-conference match on Tuesday, March 8 at Cal State Fullerton. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. (EST) at Titan Courts.
