TOLEDO, Ohio – Mid-American Conference play continues this weekend for the Toledo women's volleyball team (10-5, 3-1 MAC), which hosts Buffalo on Friday and Akron on Saturday.

Friday's match against the Bulls is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday's tilt against the Zips will begin at 4:00 p.m., with both contests being streamed live on ESPN3.

Last Time Out
Toledo hosted Central Michigan last week and split a pair of matches against the Chippewas.

In Thursday's four-set win, the Chippewas won the first set, 25-19, to take a 1-0 lead in the match, but the Rockets answered by winning the next three sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-20) to capture the match. Ryann Jaqua led UT with a season-high 33 digs, her second match with at least 30 digs this season. Payton Morman tallied her second double-double of the season with 32 assists and 10 digs, and Abby Ray collected a season-high 11 digs.

On Friday, CMU won the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-22, but the Rockets kept themselves alive by winning the third set, 25-22. Toledo was unable to keep up with Central Michigan in the fourth set, however, falling 25-16 to the Chippewas. Taylor Alt led the way with a match-high 17 kills and 11 digs, her third double-double of the year.

Rocket Notes
  • Taylor Alt leads the MAC in scoring (4.34 points/set) and kills (3.82/set). One of the most prolific outside hitters in the country, she ranks 10th among active players in career kills/set (3.94).
  • Alt has 966 kills entering the weekend, just 34 away from 1,000 for her career. She would become the 11th player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills.
  • Ryann Jaqua sits at 1,385 career digs, good for sixth all-time in program history. She is 45 digs away from passing former teammate Rhyen Neal (2017-21) to move into fifth place.
  • Jaqua is averaging 5.93 digs/set in MAC play so far, which ranks second in the league.
  • The magic number for Toledo this season has been .200; when the Rockets hit .200 or higher, they are 9-0.
About Buffalo
Buffalo is 10-7 and 2-3 in MAC play, coming off a 1-1 weekend against Northern Illinois. Sophomore Mandy Leigh was named MAC East Setter of the Week for the third time this past Monday after averaging 11.33 assists/set against NIU. Leigh ranks second in the MAC in assists, averaging 10.68 per set. The Bulls tend to work quickly, as eight of their last nine matches have ended in three sets.

About Akron
Akron sits at 4-12 entering the weekend with a 1-4 MAC record and will visit Ball State on Friday to face the Cardinals. The Zips are looking to get back on track after losing six of their last seven matches, the lone win coming in five sets against Western Michigan last weekend. Senior Teagan Ochaya leads Akron and ranks sixth in the MAC in kills (3.38/set).
