Pawit Sornlaksup advanced to the Round of 16 of the ITA Midwest Championships in Champaign, Ill. on Saturday. Sornlaksup was on of three Rockets to play in the tournament and the only still left remaining.
"Pawit did not surprise me today by his craftsman-style wins," head coach
Al Wermer said. "His efficiency, however, was quicker than I imagined. The level will continue to escalate, and I know he can handle it."
Sornkalsup swept his first match of the day, a two-set victory over Northwestern's Felix Nordby. He followed with another two-set victory, this time against Nicholas Meister from Illinois.

Matias Olivero and senior
Marko Galic each lost their first match in the singles main draw and moved into a consolation bracket. Olivero lost to Ondrej Styler from Michigan and Galic's defeat was to Matt Che of Notre Dame, both in two sets.
Sornalskup will take the court for the Round of 16, Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
