Raleigh, N.C. – The Toledo women's track and field team produced several personal bests at this weekend's Raleigh Relays that concluded on Saturday. Junior
Semra Karaslan highlighted the meet by finishing ninth in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:15.19.
"Overall, it was a terrific start to the outdoor season for this group," said Head Coach
Andrea Grove-McDonough. "I am really looking forward to seeing how well they progress into our post-season championships."
Grove-McDonough added that Karaslan's time may be good enough to land her in the NCAA East Prelims come May 27-29.
Other Rocket women posting personal-best times at the Raleigh Relays were freshman
Emily Vining, who finished 17th in the steeplechase (10:35.92); senior
Stephanie Sherman, who placed ninth in the 10,000m (34:25.35); and freshman
Madeline Vining, who was the top finishing Rocket in the women's 5000m (17:07.71).
On the men's side, sophomore
Jake Rethman finished 62
nd in the 5000m with a personal-best time of 14:31.73, followed by freshman
Ben Otis placing 95
th with a time of 14:52.72.
The Rockets return to the track on Friday, April 2 to compete at the West Virginia Open in Morgantown, W. Va.
