Toledo Tripped Up in 4-3 Loss at EMU

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The University of Toledo women's tennis team visited conference foe Eastern Michigan on Friday, falling to the Eagles by a score of 4-3.
"I always tell the girls that adversity makes you stronger," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "With my young team, they will learn a lot from this match. I'm confident we will be better because of it."
Eastern Michigan won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match. EMU won on the top court, and the Rockets' freshman duo of Julia Kuszynski and Ava McQuillin emerged victorious on court No. 3. In the rubber match on court No. 2, the Eagles came out on top to grab the early lead.
In singles play, EMU won on the No. 3 court to move ahead 2-0. Toledo recorded the next two victories, with freshman Cassie Alcala and sophomore Sloane Teske winning on courts No. 1 and 2, respectively. The Eagles retook the lead with a win on the No. 6 court, before freshman Shalini Tallamraju outlasted her opponent in a three-set battle on the No. 5 court to even the match at 3-3. Ultimately, EMU was able to come away with a win on the No. 4 court to take the match from the Rockets.
Toledo visits Ball State on Sunday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m.
