TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo produced another outstanding showing in the classroom with a 3.349 cumulative grade-point average in the Fall 2020 semester. The Rockets have now posted a Team GPA above 3.2 in 16 of the 25 grade periods under Head Coach
Tricia Cullop.
"I'm really proud of our team for their effort in the classroom this past semester," Cullop said. "Despite the obstacles we have faced related to COVID-19, they remained focused and determined."
Individually, 11 Rockets tallied a 3.0 GPA or higher in the fall with redshirt freshman
Yaniah Curry and newcomer
Sammi Mikonowicz leading the way with perfect 4.0 marks. In addition, senior
Mariah Copeland, sophomore
Jaela Johnson, sophomore
Sophia Wiard, sophomore
Mali Morgan-Elliott and freshman
Halle Idowu earned a spot on the University's Dean's List (3.5 GPA or higher). Junior

Mickayla Perdue also registered a 3.0 GPA or higher.Â
As a whole, University of Toledo student-athletes posted a combined GPA of 3.312, the highest semester grade in a fall term. It is also the fourth consecutive semester in which UToledo student-athletes have earned a semester GPA of 3.3 or higher, and the 12th straight semester above a 3.2.
"Despite the unique challenges created by the pandemic, our student-athletes have once again risen to the challenge in the classroom, continuing the proud academic tradition of Rocket Athletics," said Vice-President and Athletic Director
Mike O'Brien. "Achieving superior academic outcomes is simply part of what it means to be a Rocket. I would also like to express my gratitude for the terrific work of our Student-Athlete Academic Services staff, led by
Tony Belt, as well as to our dedicated University faculty, coaches and parents who support and nurture the efforts of our student-athletes."
Other highlights from this past semester include:
• 65 student-athletes earned President's List honors with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
• 52.8 percent (211 of 399) earned a spot on the Dean's List by garnering at least a 3.50 GPA.
• 73.2 percent (292 of 399) made the Honor Roll by securing a 3.00 GPA or higher.Â
Coach Cullop and the Rockets (6-3, 2-3 MAC) return to the hardwood this evening when they host Western Michigan (1-6, 0-5 MAC). The opening tip against the Broncos is slated for 5:30 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be shown on ESPN+.
