TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo softball team registered the highest team grade-point average ever in program history with an impressive 3.812 GPA in the Spring 2020 semester. The excellent showing in the classroom ranked second in department history and followed up a tremendous 3.723 GPA in the Fall 2019 semester.
"Our team GPA is a testament not only to all of the individuals who separately earned their own grades, but to the culture these ladies have created within the program," Head Coach

As a whole, University of Toledo student-athletes posted a combined GPA of 3.527, far and away the best in highest combined GPA ever for Rocket athletics. It is also the third consecutive semester in which UToledo student-athletes have earned a semester GPA of 3.3 or higher, and the 11
th straight semester above a 3.2.
"Under unprecedented circumstances, our student-athletes rose to the occasion to have another outstanding semester in the classroom. They have set a very high standard of excellence in the past, but to eclipse the previous GPA record by more than two points is simply amazing," said Vice-President and Athletic Director
Mike O'Brien. "This achievement says so much about the priorities of our student-athletes, coaches and staff. Special congratulations to Head Coach
Joe Abraham and the softball team for setting the record for the highest team GPA in our school's history. I would also like to express recognition to Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services
Ericka Lavender and the Student Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) staff for putting in long hours and extra effort to help our student-athletes adjust to the mid-semester switch to remote learning. This is a very proud day for University of Toledo Athletics."
Other highlights from this past semester include:
- 20.4 percent (73 of 357) of student-athletes earned President's List honors with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
- 57.4 percent (205 of 357) earned a spot on the Dean's List by garnering at least a 3.50 GPA.
- 87.4 percent (312 of 357) made the Honor Roll by securing a 3.00 GPA or higher.
