Six Rockets Named to 2020 Hampshire Honor Society

Toledo, Ohio – Former University of Toledo football players Yazeed Atariwa, Cameron Bell, Nate Childress, Jordan Fisher, Reggie Gilliam and Mitchell Guadagni were recently named to the 2020 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.  

The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions who have maintained a 3.2 grade point average throughout their college careers. Other qualifications include being a starter or significant contributor in one's senior season and meeting mandated progress toward graduation.

Atariwa played in 35 games on the offensive over five the past season with the Rockets. An Academic All-MAC selection in 2018, Atariwa graduated with a degree in marketing and is currently working on his MBA.

Bell played on the offensive line for the past four seasons, starting the past 24 consecutive games. A two-time Academic All-MAC selection, Bell graduated with a degree in history and is currently pursuing a certificate in para-legal studies.

Childress was a starter at defensive tackle for the past 34 consecutive games. He finished his Toledo career with 94 tackles and six blocked kicks. He was a two-time Academic All-MAC pick and made the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2019. He graduated with a degree in marketing and is currently pursuing his MBA.

Fisher began his Rocket career as a tight end before moving to linebacker for the past two seasons. He started every game as a senior, leading the team with 89 tackles. He graduated with a degree in communication in May of 2019 and is currently pursuing his graduate degree in recreation & leisure studies.

Gilliam was a two-year starter at tight end, earning second-team All-MAC honors in 2018. He caught three touchdown passes that season and led the country and set the school record with four blocked kicks. A two-time Academic All-MAC selection, Gilliam was a nominee for three national awards in 2019: the Campbell Award (top scholar-athlete), the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award (leadership) and the Burlsworth Trophy (top player who began career as a walk-on). He graduated with a degree in interdisciplinary studies and is currently working on a master of liberal studies degree.

Guadagni was a two-year starter as quarterback who put up impressive numbers despite losing numerous games to injuries. As a junior, he led the MAC in passing efficiency and averaged 15.26 yards per completion, which was fourth-best in the nation at the time of his season-ending injury. He was second in the MAC in passing efficiency as a senior until another injury ended his season. Guadagni, an Academic All-MAC selection in 2018, graduated with a degree in marketing in and is currently pursuing his MBA.
