TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo offensive lineman Matt Hofer has been selected to the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, the American Football Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.

With the selection, Hofer becomes the first student-athlete in program history to be selected for the Good Works Team. He was one of just 11 players from the FBS and one of 23 individuals – 22 players and one coach selected to the list.

The redshirt freshman has made two recent international mission trips to Kenya and the Philippines. In Kenya last year, Hofer engaged with vulnerable children, including some who were trafficked, at schools and orphanages by teaching, playing games and sharing hope. In his trip to the Philippines earlier this year, Hofer participated in fundraising efforts for a college, assisted churches with vacation bible school and prepared housing for future mission teams.

In Toledo, Hofer's volunteer work has spanned across many local organizations including Cherry Street Mission, Boys & Girls Club, Cornerstone Church and Gleaners Community Food Bank. He has also appeared at numerous elementary schools in the area.

The Good Works Team recognizes college football student-athletes' extra efforts off the field. The award was established in 1992 and AFCA became the governing body for the award in 1997. Recently, Allstate partnered with the Wuerffel Foundation to align their goals in recognizing excellence in community service, academics and athletics.

The team was selected from a record 195 nominees nationwide, submitted by head coaches and sports information directors.

Fans can vote at ESPN.com/Allstate through Nov. 10 among the 11 FBS nominees. The winner will receive the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy and serve as the Good Works team captain. The winner will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards shot on Dec. 12 on ESPN. The trophy will be presented at the College Football Hall of Fame on Jan. 31, 2026.

Selected student-athletes display exemplary community service as part of a charitable group or organization for causes including mental health awareness, youth mentorship, hunger relief and many more. Each student-athlete must also be in strong academic standing.
