TOLEDO, Ohio— The University of Toledo women's volleyball team heads down to Wright State for a tournament this weekend. The Rockets will also face Western Illinois and Indiana State.
Toledo will play Western Illinois first, taking on the Leathernecks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Last Time Out
The Rockets participated in the Radford Invitational last weekend and came home undefeated, going 3-0 against Rider, Radford, and Norfolk State. It marked the first time since 2011 that Toledo went 3-0 at a weekend tournament.

Rhyen Neal had a team-best 3.50 digs/set average, and both senior
Zoe Birnbrich and freshman
Olivia Vance averaged 0.75 blocks/set. Freshman

Quick Hits
- Toledo went 3-0 during the 2011 Toledo/Asics Invitational, the last time the team won a non-conference weekend tournament. The last time the Rockets won a tournament on the road, however, was in 2009. Toledo went 3-0 at the Harvard Invitational and Cardinal Classic, hosted by Louisville.

Scouting the Opponents
Western Illinois: WIU enters the weekend 3-4, having most recently lost to Drake in four sets on Tuesday. The Leathernecks are hitting .224 as a team and are led individually by JoJo Kruize (2.75 kills/set), Mackenzie Steckler (2.25 kills/set, 1.54 blocks/set), and Gabby DePersio (4.09 digs/set). Toledo also faced Western Illinois in a tournament last year, winning handily in three sets.
Indiana State: The Sycamores are still searching for their first win of the 2019 season, having played to an 0-6 record entering the weekend. ISU last competed at the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State and lost each match in three sets. Indiana State is hitting .127 as a team and allowing opponents to hit .272. Nikkie White leads the team with a 2.57 kills/set average and Melina Tedrow is posting 4.32 digs/set.
Wright State: The Raiders are 5-1 entering this weekend's tournament, their lone loss coming to Bowling Green. Wright State is led individually by Jenna Story, who sits among the NCAA leaders with a 6.32 digs/set average. Offensively, Teddie Sauer (2.19 kills/set, .345 hitting percentage) paces the Raiders. Both players have earned Horizon League Player of the Week accolades this season.
