Toledo Clashes with Ball State for MAC West Crown

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo softball team will play host to Ball State with the Mid-American Conference West Division title and the No. 2 seed in next weekend's MAC Tournament on the line. The Rockets clinch at least a share of the division championship with one win, while BSU can claim the outright crown with a series sweep. The Rockets and the Cardinals kick off the series at 3:05 p.m. on Friday before a doubleheader starting at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday. All three games from Scott Park will be played on ESPN+.

UT currently sits at 15-5 in conference play and has a one-game lead on Ball State. Both teams have already secured a spot in the MAC Tournament. The Rockets will be either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the bracket, while Ball State can fall to as low as the No. 5 seed.

Immediately following Saturday's doubleheader, the Rockets will honor seniors Ashley Rausch and Sam Showalter, who will play their last home games this weekend.

TOLEDO (31-17, 15-5 MAC)
Rausch and Showalter, along with fourth-year head coach Kristen Butler, won their 100th-career game last weekend at Central Michigan. Butler will be presented with a commemorative game ball for the milestone before Friday's contest. In doing so, Rausch and Showalter became the first 100-win class since 1998. Toledo defeated CMU 8-0 to even the series, but lost the rubber match, 3-0, to drop the series. This was the first conference series that UT has not won this season.

Kailey Minarchick was the driving force in the Rockets' run-rule win over the Chippewas. The junior right hander tossed a two-hit shutout to better her record to a perfect 10-0 against MAC teams. On the season, Minarchick is 17-4 with a 2.38 ERA in 141.0 innings and has won her last dozen decisions.

Offensively, the Rockets are led by Bailey Curry, who has turned into one of the front runners for the conference's Freshman of the Year Award. Curry leads the Rockets with a .381 average, 13 home runs and 43 RBIs.

Ball State (32-16, 14-6 MAC)
The Cardinals have won five straight games entering the weekend and claimed back-to-back series over Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan.

BSU is led by Haley Dominique with a .397 average, 62 hits and 14 doubles. Maddy Labrador and Janae Hogg bring the power to the lineup with 11 home runs and 13 home runs, respectively.

Aeshia Miles has posted a 2.18 ERA in 29 appearances and has a 17-8 ledger in a team-high 157.2 innings. Alyssa Rothwell has a 1.70 ERA in a team-best 35 appearances.
