How it Happened
- For the third time this weekend, Ball State scored in the top of the first. Two runs came in to score for the Cardinals in large part due to three fielding errors by Toledo.
- Ball State scored again in the top of the second to go ahead 3-0. For the second time in two innings, BSU grounded into a double play that brought in a run.
- Toledo found the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. Meyers ripped a single to right field to score senior AJ Montoya, who reached second base on a balk during that at-bat.
- Two more runs came across the plate for Ball State in the top of the fifth. A run-scoring double was followed by an RBI single to center field to move ahead, 5-1.
- The Cardinals broke the game open with four runs in the top of the sixth. Three of those scores came in on a bases-loaded single, with the final run scoring due to a Toledo fielding miscue. A sacrifice fly made it 9-1 in favor of Ball State.
- Freshman Alex Bukowski made his fourth appearance of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He has yet to allow a run this year.
