OXFORD, Ohio – Toledo faced a tough 5-2 loss to Miami on Friday afternoon in its first Mid-American Conference match of the weekend. The Rockets will head into Sunday's match against Ball State with an overall record of 8-10 and a 0-5 ledger in the conference.
UT got on the scoreboard first by winning the doubles point. Sophomore

Megan Miller bested Miami, 6-3, at second doubles, before juniors
Sidnay Huck and
Colleen O'Brien clinched the point for the Rockets with a 6-3 win on Court 3.Â
The RedHawks answered back with a straight-set win at fifth singles to even the score, 1-1. Miami took advantage of its momentum and recorded three more singles matches on courts three, four and six to take a 4-1 lead.
Freshman
Mimi Kendall-Woseley cut Toledo's deficit in half by winning at the top spot. Kendall-Woseley found herself on the losing side of the opening frame but responded by defeated Nelli Ponomareva in Set 2. The freshman Rocket battled in the final frame and clinched a 7-6 (7-5) victory to claim the match.
Toledo will look to record its first league win this Sunday against Ball State. The match against the Cardinals is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the UT Varsity Courts.
