TOLEDO'S LAST MEETING VS. KANSAS
Toledo dropped a 93-83 decision to No. 16 Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. The loss was UT's first of the season, dropping its record 12-1 heading into Mid-American Conference play.
Nathan Boothe paced a balanced Rocket attack with 15 points even though he was saddled by foul trouble and played just 23 minutes. Also scoring in double digits were Justin Drummond and J.D. Weatherspoon with 13 points apiece and Rian Pearson with 10 points.
Toledo committed just eight turnovers in the contest, while forcing the Jayhawks into 18 miscues. But Kansas overcame that sizable difference with a commanding 44-28 advantage on the glass.
Perry Ellis (21 pts., 11 reb.) and Joel Embiid (14 pts., 10 reb.) each registered double-doubles, while Naadir Tharpe and Andrew Wiggins each scored 20 points apiece.
Toledo scored the game's first five points and Kansas Head Coach Bill Self called timeout just 35 seconds into the contest after the Jayhawks committed turnovers on their first two possessions. KU took its first lead, 17-15, on Wiggins' three-point play with 11:57 remaining in the first half.
The Rockets quickly answered thanks to seven straight points from Boothe for a 22-17 lead at the midway point of the opening stanza. Tharpe responded with an eight-point burst of his own though to give the hosts the lead for good, 25-22, less than two minutes later. Toledo reduced its deficit to one point on four occasions the remainder of the half, but the Jayhawks went on another spurt to take a 43-36 halftime advantage.

THREE-POINT PRODUCTION
       One of Head Coach
Tod Kowalczyk's goals for the Rockets heading into the 2017-18 campaign was to increase their three-point field goals. Toledo has done just that in its first five games by converting 48-of-128 attempts for a 37.5 conversion rate, a mark that ranks second in the MAC.
UT's 9.6 treys per game rank fourth in the MAC and are ahead of last year's average of 7.7 three-pointers per game. The Rockets posted a 36.2 three-point field-goal percentage last year.
Toledo's 14 three-point field goals vs. Saint Joseph's in its season opener were tied for third-most in school history. The school record is 17 vs. Wright State on Dec. 22, 2003 with UT also hitting 16 vs. Marshall on Jan. 12, 2000.
UT also posted double-digit trey totals with 12-of-25 totals at Syracuse (Nov. 22) and 11-of-31 totals at Cornell (Nov. 24).
