Rockets Look to Continue Hot Start Against CMU and EMU

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team is undefeated after its first four Mid-American Conference matches for the first time since 2011 and looks to continue its hot start at Central Michigan and hosting Eastern Michigan this week. The Rockets travel to CMU on Thursday, Oct. 5 for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff and host EMU on Sunday, Oct. 8 for a 1:00 p.m. contest.

The Rockets (5-4-3, 2-0-2 MAC) have accompanied wins over Miami and Northern Illinois with draws against Ball State and Western Michigan in their opening pair of weekends in conference play. UT currently sits in third place in the overall standings behind Ball State and Kent State.

The UT offense has been fueled by junior Hannah Scafaria who leads the team with six goals and 13 points on the season. Scafaria has netted five goals in the last five matches for the Midnight Blue & Gold.

A stout Rockets' defense is led by redshirt freshman Madison Perrin in between the posts. Perrin is averaging over five saves per match, leads the conference with 64 saves and has recorded five shutouts on the campaign.

Central Michigan (5-4-3, 0-2-2 MAC) dropped back-to-back conference matches to Kent State and Ohio to open league play but remained undefeated at home with draws with Akron and Buffalo last weekend.

Lexi Pelafas leads the Chippewas and is tied for the lead league with eight goals on the season.

Eastern Michigan (4-8-1, 1-3-0 MAC) fell in its first three MAC matches but bounced back on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Akron. The win over the Zips snapped a five-match losing streak for the Eagles.

Nine EMU players have scored goals on the year, but no player has more than two. Sabrina McNeill leads the way with a pair of goals to go along with two assists.

Toledo has defeated Central Michigan just once in the pairings' last seven meetings. CMU holds a 9-6-6 record over UT in the all-time series. The Rockets have the upper hand, 14-12, all-time against EMU, but have dropped three of the last four.

The women's soccer team remains at Scott Park and welcomes Akron and Buffalo to the Glass City next weekend.
