Red-Hot Rockets Host Miami on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in Savage Arena

QUICK HITTERS
•
  Toledo (8-6, 1-0 MAC) looks to extend its season-high four-game winning streak on Saturday, Jan. 7 when it hosts East Division foe East Division foe Miami (8-6, 1-0 MAC) in the second game of a doubleheader. Tip-off time from Savage Arena is set for 4:00 p.m. with the game being televised on BCSN and Time Warner Cable and streamed on ESPN3.
•   The Rockets opened their conference campaign on Tuesday with their largest margin of victory ever in a league opener thanks to an 88-56 home triumph over Buffalo. Senior guard Jonathan Williams paced the Toledo attack against the Bulls with 26 points, marking the sixth-consecutive contest he has topped UT in scoring.
•  Williams ranks second in the MAC with 20.3 ppg to go along with a 40.4 3PFTG% and a 78.4 FT%. He has posted a career-high seven straight 20-point outings and is averaging 24.4 ppg with a 51.8 FG% and 43.5 3PTFG% (20-of-46) during this hot stretch.
•  Senior forward Steve Taylor, Jr. ranks second on the team in scoring with 15.4 ppg to go along with a MAC-best 11.8 rpg and a team-high 4.1 apg. He ranks fourth nationally with 11.8 rpg (through Jan. 4) and ranks second in the country (behind Purdue's Caleb Swanigan's 9.87) with 9.85 defensive rpg. In addition, Taylor's 10 double-doubles are tied for fourth in the nation.
•  Sophomore guard Jaelan Sanford, who has scored in double digits in six of his last seven contests, is averaging 13.6 ppg and leads the team with 35.0 mpg.
•  Senior guard Jordan Lauf, who is averaging 9.0 ppg with an 81.5 FG% (22-of-27) in his last seven games, is leading Toledo with a 66.7 FG%, a 42.1 3PTFG% (8-of-19) and 1.1 spg. He also ranks second on the team with 6.3 rpg and fourth with 7.9 ppg.
•  The Rockets have tied a school record (set in the 1971-72 campaign) with a nation-high five overtime games this season. UT has a 2-3 win-loss mark in its OT contests with wins over Youngstown State (Nov. 15) and Evansville (Nov. 25) and losses against Middle Tennessee (Nov. 26), Green Bay (Dec. 3) and Marshall (Dec. 10).
•  Toledo's five overtime games are tied for the national lead with Indiana State and are one more than Cal. State-Fullerton, Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Washington.
•   The RedHawks, who are 8-2 in Millett Hall this season and winless in four road games, bring a season-high three-game winning streak into Saturday's contest.
•  Miami's freshman guard Michael Weathers ranks third in the MAC with a team-high 18.6 points per game. He leads the RedHawks with a MAC-best 1.6 blocked shots per game and also has a team-high 5.1 assists and 1.9 steals per contest.

POST-GAME NOTES FROM UT'S 88-56 VICTORY OVER BUFFALO
•   Toledo matched its longest win streak from last season with its fourth straight win. The last time UT won more than four consecutive games was a six-game streak from Jan. 24-Feb. 10, 2015.
•   Toledo is 6-1 in Savage Arena this season, marking its best home start since posting a 15-0 ledger in 2013-14. Since the start of the 2013-14 campaign, UT holds a 41-12 (.774) mark in Savage Arena.
•   UT leads its all-time series vs. Buffalo, 15-9, and has won four of its last five matchups vs. the Bulls.
•   The Rockets' 61.3 FG% in the first half was its best in any half this season, surpassing their previous best of 60.9 percent vs. Loyola.
•   Toledo is 5-1 when holding its opponent under 45 percent shooting from the field and 6-1 when outshooting its opponent.
•   UT has grabbed more rebounds in 12 of 14 games and its plus-16 rebounding margin was its largest this year.
•   Toledo blocked a season-high six shots and Buffalo's 31.3 FG% was lowest by a Rocket opponent this season. The Bulls' 26.5 FG% in the second half was also the lowest by a Rocket opponent this season.
•   Senior guard Jonathan Williams produced his highest scoring output in a MAC game with 26 points, marking the sixth straight game he's led UT in scoring. He shot a career-high 11 free throws and tied his career high with eight free throws made.
•   Senior Steve Taylor, Jr. grabbed 15 rebounds (for his sixth-straight double-digit rebound outing) and dished out a career-high seven assists. He has led UT in rebounding and assists in a team-high 10 contests.
•   Sophomore guard Jaelan Sanford finished one point shy of a career best with 22 points and tied his season high with three treys in addition to dishing out a season-best five assists.
•   Redshirt freshman Luke Knapke tallied his fourth double-digit outing of the season with 13 points.
•   Freshman guard Justin Roberts dished out a season-high three assists in 14 minutes.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Following today's contest, the Rockets will hit the road for four of their next five contests beginning with matchups at Western Michigan (4-9, 0-1 MAC) on Tuesday, Jan. 10 and Central Michigan (10-4, 0-1 MAC) on Friday, Jan. 13. UT will return home to face Bowling Green (6-8, 0-1 MAC) on Tuesday, Jan. 17 before visiting Kent State (9-5, 1-0 MAC) on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Ohio (9-3, 1-0 MAC) on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
