Houston, TX - Toledo (4-2) split its matches on the final day of the Barcelona Labor Day Classic. The Rockets began the day off with their third five-set victory of the season, defeating North Florida, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-27, 15-8. UT then dropped a difficult battle against host Houston Baptist, 3-1 (16-25, 25-27, 25-20, 19-25).

"We had a great win today. UNF is a good team and they did a lot great things, but we were able to execute and pull out a victory," said head coach

"Houston Baptist came out very strong. We played a solid second set and got into a great rhythm in the third. We started off the last set strong but struggled to maintain our momentum. We learned a lot this weekend and we will take it all into practice this coming week in preparation for our home tournament."

Match 1
The lead changed hands five times in the opening set. After the score was evened at 22, the Ospreys claimed a 25-23 victory.

Set 2 was a tight battle that saw 12 tied scores. The Rockets ultimately claimed a 25-21 victory after holding UNF to a .000 attack mark.

Toledo posted a match-high 19 kills in Set 3 that propelled them to a 25-22 win.

After a 21-21 tie in the fourth frame, the score was evened after every other point until the Ospreys were able to register two-straight kills to claim the set, 27-25.

The Midnight Blue & Gold jumped ahead in the final set and never relinquished the lead.

Houston Baptist downed the Rockets in a 25-16 first-set victory after registering an impressive .393 ATK% as a team.

Toledo was able to knot the score 10 times in the second frame but two HBU terminations locked in the Huskies' 27-25 win.

The Rockets found their momentum in Set 3 and posted a .395 attack mark, but the Huskies ended the match with a 25-19 fourth-set victory.

UT returns to Toledo next weekend to host the Asics Invitational. The Rockets will welcome Saint Francis (PA), Fort Wayne and Marshall to Savage Arena.
