Rockets to Visit Buffalo on Tuesday for Rematch With Bulls

QUICK HITTERS
•  Toledo (14-9, 5-5 MAC) looks to build on last week's convincing wins vs. Western Michigan (89-62) and at Kent State (82-67) when it visits Alumni Arena to face Buffalo (14-9, 7-3 MAC) on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m.
•  Buffalo is riding a season-high four-game win streak and has won six of its last seven contests following Saturday's 80-70 home triumph over Eastern Michigan.
•  UT is tied for third place in the MAC's West Division and trails co-leaders Ball State and Central Michigan by one game. UB is in second place in the MAC's East Division, one game behind Akron.
•  The Rockets committed a season-high 19 turnovers in their 73-68 home setback to Buffalo on Jan. 30. Nathan Boothe, Jonathan Williams and Jaelan Sanford paced UT with 15 points apiece. The Bulls were led by the tandem of Blake Hamilton (17 pts., 8 reb.) and Lamonte Bearden (16 pts.). UT cut Buffalo's lead to 65-63 with 1:36 to play but couldn't come any closer.
•  Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk is in his sixth season at UT's helm and has orchestrated a dramatic turnaround since his arrival in 2010. He possesses a 99-87 (.532) record on the Rocket bench, including a 95-59 (.617) win-loss ledger over the last five years.
•  Kowalczyk has guided Toledo to a share of the 2013-14 Mid-American Conference regular season title in addition to a piece of the 2012-13 MAC West Division title.
•  Senior Nathan Boothe notched his 11th double-double of the season and fifth in a row with 26 points and 12 rebounds against KSU. The Rockets shot a season-high 58.7 percent from the field, including a scorching 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from three-point range.
•  Boothe and Williams rank among the MAC's top scorers with Boothe setting the pace at 19.5 and Williams in third place at 18.1 ppg. Boothe also is first in the MAC with 7.4 defensive rebounds per game, third with a team-high 9.3 rpg, eighth with 3.7 apg and a 51.4 FG%, and ninth with a 1.6 assist/turnover ratio.
•  Boothe, who ranks second in league play in scoring (21.2 ppg) and rebounding (9.9 rpg), was named the MAC West Division Player of the Week for the sixth time on Monday. He averaged 21.0 ppg, 11.0 ppg and 4.0 apg with a 52.0 FG%, 57.1 3PTFG% and 92.3 FT% vs. WMU and KSU.
•  UT tops the MAC with 17.0 apg and a 1.50 assist/turnover ratio and is tied for first with 78.9 ppg. The Rockets also rank second with a 46.5 FG% behind Ohio's 46.8 mark.
•  Buffalo leads the MAC with 12.7 offensive rebounds per game and is second in 3PTFG% defense (32.4) and third with a plus-3.2 rebounding margin. The Bulls also top the MAC in field-goal percentage defense (41.6) and 3PTFG% defense (30.2) in league games only.
•  Sophomore guard Lamonte Bearden, who is one of three Bulls scoring in double figures with 13.5 ppg and leads UB with 3.5 apg, ranks third in the MAC with 1.7 spg.
 
ROCKET ROUNDUP FROM UT'S 82-67 VICTORY AT KENT STATE
• The Rockets increased their lead in their all-time series vs. Kent State to 81-47 for its largest advantage against any opponent.
• Toledo's victory at Kent State was its second in its last three visits to the M.A.C. Center.
• UT won for just the second time in eight contests when being outrebounded by its opponent.
• The Rockets improved their record when leading at halftime to 12-2.
• Toledo has posted its two best free-throw percentages of the MAC season in its last two games. UT shot 82.6 percent (19-of-23) vs. WMU before converting at an 88.9 clip (16-of-18) at Kent State.
• The Rockets are shooting 82.5 percent (66-of-80) from the charity stripe in their last four contests.
• UT posted a season-high 63.2 3PTFG% (12-of-19) and is shooting 51.2 percent (22-of-43) behind the arc in its last two games.
• UT is 14-1 when it shoots 45 percent or higher and 13-0 when it registers a higher field-goal percentage than its opponent.
• Toledo won for the fourth time in 12 games this season when less than four players have scored in double digits.
• Senior center Nathan Boothe registered his 11th double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds. He has led or shared the team lead in scoring a team-high 14 times and rebounding on a team-best 17 occasions.
• Boothe moved into 17th place on UT's all-time scoring list and need just five more points to move into 15th place.
• Junior guard Jonathan Williams tallied 17 points to give him 14 or more points in 22 of 23 contests. He needs just 19 points to reach the 1,000-point plateau in his collegiate career.
• Junior guard Jordan Lauf was perfect in five free-throw attempts and has made 17 of his last 19 free-throw attempts. He ranks second on team in MAC play at 80.8 percent (21-of-26).
• Freshman forward Nate Navigato registered his ninth double-digit scoring output with 11 points. He is averaging 9.8 ppg with a 47.8 3PTFG% (11-of-23) in his last four contests.
 
A LOOK AHEAD
      The Rockets return home on Saturday, Feb. 13 for its second meeting of the season against Miami (7-15, 1-8 MAC). Tip-off time in Savage Arena is 7:00 p.m. Toledo will then venture back out on the road for two more road tilts at Central Michigan (13-10, 6-4 MAC) on Tuesday, Feb. 16 and Eastern Michigan (11-12, 3-7 MAC) on Saturday, Feb. 20.
