Rockets Finish 3-0 Over Weekend at Home

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo men's tennis closed out the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record at home. The Rockets first downed Aquinas College 7-0 before defeating Wayne State 6-1. UT improved its record to 5-5 on the season.

"Super effort by the Rockets again today. We had a very beneficial weekend for these reasons: we rotated in our lower line up guys, our doubles teams are becoming much more confident, and we are learning how to power through adversity and pull away with a victory," head coach Al Wermer said.

The Rockets claimed the doubles point in two matches, causing the third to go unfinished.

Vince Anzalone and Reid Teatsorth each recorded a two-set victory in No. 2 and 5 singles, respectively. Anzalone defeated Gunnar Peery 6-2, 6-2 and Teatsorth downed Chase Peery 6-2, 6-3.

Luka Vitosevic (No. 1), Omar Espinosa (No. 3), Stephen Miller (No. 4) and Danilo Pejovic (No. 6) each claimed a victory in their singles matches. All four Rockets won their first sets but were bested in their second. The Rockets had to battle in set three to claim their point.

In their second match of the day, the Rockets claimed the doubles point with victories the in No. 1 and 3 spots.

Stjepan Sisko, Vince Anzalone and Danilo Pejovic each recorded two-set victories. Sisko defeated Mohamed Kechai 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot. Anzalone downed Taylor Vane 7-6, 6-4 at No. 2 and Pejovic defeated Derek Sammons 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.

Serjen Olmedo and Stephen Miller both dropped their first sets 6-4 but forced each match into three-sets to claim the victory.
