AKRON, OH – Toledo extended its winning streak to three matches on Saturday evening with a 3-1 (25-20, 15-25, 25-21, 25-23) triumph at Akron (5-11, 0-4 MAC). The Rockets' victory was their second road win of the weekend as well as their third Mid-American Conference win in four outings.
"Tonight's win was a good one against an Akron team that is playing much better than its record indicates," Head Coach
Greg Smith said. "We knew we were in for a battle after losing the second set, and that's when raised our level of play. We came up with some big plays in the third and fourth sets that allowed us to pull away when Akron was making a run at us."

Saige Thomas paced UT with a match-high 16 kills to go along with a .389 attack percentage, marking the fifth-straight match she has set the pace for the Rockets.

Zoe Birnbrich also was in double digits for Toledo (10-6) with 11 terminations, while senior RS
Mary O'Connor tallied a career-best .529 attack percentage with nine kills and zero errors in 17 attack attempts.

Carly Townsend dished out 48 assists and also contributed four blocks.
Toledo held a .295-.276 advantage in the hitting department as well as an 11-5 advantage in blocks.
Kayla Gwozdz led Akron with 14 kills and was one of four Zips to reach double digits.
The Rockets will remain on the road next weekend for matches at Western Michigan on Friday, Oct. 7 and Northern Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 8.
