Toledo Picks Up Three Victories at SPIRE Midwest Open

Geneva, OH - The Toledo women's track & field program continued the SPIRE Midwest Open on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the SPIRE Institute.

The event featured schools from the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and Junior College levels. UT faced Mid-American Conference foes Bowling Green and Buffalo during the event.

The Rockets took home three victories during the event. Yesterday, the quartet of junior Theresa Warsecke, freshman Nautica Hill, senior Julia Pusateri and senior Liz Weiler won the distance medley relay with a time 11:45.82. Warsecke also took home first place in the 3000m with a time of 9:45.74, which bests the MAC Automatic qualifying time by seven seconds.

UT also took home a victory in the 4x400m race. The team of Hill, senior Akili Barnes, freshman Christina Johnson, sophomore Krystiana Collins finished with a time of 3:57.91.

The Midnight Blue & Gold took home the top three spots in the 3000m. Senior Brooke Tullis finished second with a time of 9:50.20 while Weiler finished third with a time of 9:57.81. Tullis also hit the MAC auto qualifier.

Senior Kyesha Neal picked up two second place finishes in the weight throw and shot put. Neal had a throw of 14.49m in the shot put and a personal best throw of 16.19m in the weight throw.

Many Rockets set personal bests during the event. Junior Maja Pacaric, sophomore Stephanie Barlow, freshman Olivia Chinn and freshman Jennifer Lichter all set PRs in the mile with times of 5:03.62, 5:04.05, 5:05.60 and 5:05.83, respectively. Freshman Katie Dewey set a PR in the weight throw with a 14.92m throw. Freshman Anna Bellman also had a PR in the weight throw with a 12.76m throw.

Yesterday, senior Stephanie Ingraham hit a PR in the 5000m with a time of 17:55.55.

No team scores were kept in the event.

UT is back in action next weekend at the Meyo Invitational on Friday, Feb. 5th and Saturday, Feb. 6th in South Bend, IN.
